Son of Late Shri Mohinder Singh; born on 2nd February, 1949 at Banglore, Karnataka; B.Sc. (IInd year); educated at St. Luke’s High School Solan and DAV College, Chandigarh; married to Smt. Meera Sing; two sons; Agriculturist and Horticulturist.
Remained Member, Kullu, Municipality 1972-77; General Secretary, Janata Party (Legislature Party), ii) State, BJP; and President, State BJP (twice).
Elected to State Legislative Assembly in 1977 as Janata Party nominee and; re-elected to Assembly in 1982 as Bharatiya Janata Party candidate; Chief Parliamentary Secretary, 1977-80.
Elected to Rajya Sabha in 1992; remained Member: Committee on Petitions, 1992-94, ii) Committees on Agriculture, Public Undertakings, Transport and Tourism,1994-96, iii) Consultative Committee, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism,1994-96 & Ministry of Rural Affairs and Employment, 1996-98.
Elected to ninth Lok Sabha in 1989; re-elected to twelfth Lok Sabha in 1998 and to thirteenth Lok Sabha in 1999; Member: Committees on Estimates, Science and Technology, Environment and Forests,1998-99, Estimates Committees and Committee on Government Assurances, Urban & Rural Development 1999-2000, Estimates Committee 2000-2001 and Consultative Committee, Ministry of Tourism and Department of Culture, 2000-2004. Resigned from BJP and formed new political outfit viz; Himachal Lokhit Party on 2nd Feb, 2012; presently, President State unit of HLP. Elected to the State Assembly for the 3rd time in December, 2012.
